Retirees and Pre-Retirees are interested in these options because they can enjoy free time travelling or engaged in recreational pursuits, rather than on housing chores and maintenance.

 (2) INDEPENDENT LIVING

These type of residential communities are for seniors wanting a leisurely, hassle-free lifestyle.

What are Pour-Over Wills and Living Trusts For?

In Estate Planning, a Pour-Over Will is a last will and testament that serves as a means of security to capture any assets that are not transferred to or included in a Living Trust, so that they are sure to go to your intended beneficiaries.  It is important to note that Pour-Over Wills deal with personal, not trust assets.

A Living Trust can be used to hold legal title to and provide a mechanism to manage your property. You (and your spouse) are the Trustee(s) and beneficiaries of your trust during your lifetime. You also designate successor Trustees to carry out your instructions in case of death or incapacity.

Upcoming Estate Planning Seminar!

Interested in hearing Robert W. Haley, Certified Elder Law Attorney® speak on the topic of Estate Planning?  Be sure to catch him at his upcoming seminar at United Baptist Church in Danville, Virginia on Tuesday, February 28, 2017 at 11:00am! For more information on this seminar, click here.

Estate Planning means much more than just preparing a Last Will & Testament or tax planning for the disposition of your assets upon your death!

Any complete Estate Plan should include a Will, along with a Health Care Power of Attorney (which names an agent and an alternative agent responsible for medical decision-making) and a Durable Financial Power of Attorney naming an agent (and an alternate) responsible for asset and financial management if one is unable to do such things for oneself. A Living Will, or other Advance Medical Directive, gives instructions concerning the type of care  one wishes to receive or avoid in the event of a terminal illness. This seminar goes over the basics that everyone should consider to protect themselves and their family for the future.

We hope to see you there!
