Cold & Flu in the Elderly: Signs & Symptoms

It's that time of year: The flu is hitting hard for all ages this year and the young, those with weakened immune systems, and the elderly are especially at risk! Complications of the flu can dramatically worsen chronic conditions like Asthma, Diabetes and COPD, just to name a few.

It is crucial to take care of yourself as well as being mindful and considerate of the health of those around you. If you or someone in your family is sick with the flu, the Center for Disease Control (CDC) recommends staying home from school or work at least 24 hours after your fever subsides. Most people are at peak contagiousness in the 3 or 4 days after becoming sick, but the CDC does say you may be able to infect others from a day before to even 7 days AFTER developing symptoms.
