The year 2014 begins a new era for the law firm. For over thirty years this firm was Philpott & McGhee. Former Speaker of the House of Delegates A.L. Philpott and former Henry County Attorney L. Dale McGhee practiced law here in Bassett for over 30 years. Speaker Philpott passed away in 1991 and McGhee retired in 1996. It was then the firm became the Law Office of Robert W. Haley. In 2013 Jessica Henson joined the firm and we also opened a satellite office in Danville, Virginia.
Beginning January 1, 2014 the firm was renamed The Estate & Elder Law Center of Southside Virginia, PLLC. We wanted to make the change for two reasons. First, to illustrate our commitment to estate and elder law. We are not general practitioners. In this day and age of ever expanding laws and regulations, trying to practice law in many different areas is nearly impossible! Therefore, in line with our commitment to our practice areas and specializations, we wanted the name of the firm to reflect that.
Second, we were delighted with the reception of our Danville office! Therefore, we want all our clients to know that we are committed to all of Southside Virginia! We are working to expand our presence in Danville throughout 2014.
